Ah, my ‘To Do’ list.

April 12, 2008

Well, I know I said I would post the logo designs that I have been working on…but I am not at my computer so I can’t really do that right now. But I felt like posting about all the projects I have on my plate right now.

1- As I mentioned, I am working on the logo for my employer. This has been very fun, and the seem to really like what I have. Need to go through a couple more rounds of changes I am sure, but the final logo is looking near and not far from it’s initial design. From that they has also asked if I could work a couple other logos for them as they have a few companies under their belt. I am really looking forward to this, as their current logos are just bad.

2- On top of designing a new logo I am also to design their website to go along with it. This is going to be fun, but difficult. I have never designed a site before. I have almost no skills in web programming. They have a guy who is coding the site, but he is by no means an artist. So that is why they have asked me to do it for them. But I just feel like having knowledge of html and CSS would be of huge benefit in understanding the limits and knowing what works how well. So I am sort of on a crash self-taught course. I am sure it is going to be a trip.

3- If they do end up liking at least the logo designs enough to take them, then they are also going to have me working on ads, both print and web. Again…fun! Except I have never done such a thing. But I think I will be fine. I just never thought I would find Graphic Design so interesting.
4- Aside from work I also have school stuff. Going to be easy though, final projects always are when I get full creative control! :)

5- On the personal side of things, I really need to get back into my realm of 3D. Been so busy with school, and now the work bit, I haven’t touched Max in months. So to hopefully help jump-start that I am going to start working on a map for Day of Defeat: Source that was passed off to me by someone. It is a recreation of an original DoD map ‘Caen’ (for those of you who know it, I am sure you miss it). Though there have been flare-ups of the map recently by the community. I was given the oportunity to refine and ‘beautify’ a version of the map. I have had it for a few months now collecting dust. But I finally starting working on it in my mind now that I see the light of summer at the end of a long semester.

My goal for the map is to visually push it passed that of even default Source maps. I want to get a great feel from it, and I am sure I have a loong haul in front of me. I will be keeping my progress tracked on here as well. I hope that will help me keep my head above water.

6- Also a personal project is my work on various WoW Addon art. I have been working on the skins for different custom interfaces and I really hope to wrap those up soon. But this, understandably, is at the bottom of my list.

Aside from all of those I just have a little more work to do on this site itself. Thinking of having different pages forĀ  different areas of art I work on, mainly news and such. Lots of copy and paste ;) .

Anyway, I am off to take care of my girlfriend who very sick today, poor thing.

Take care!

Graphic Designer…me??

April 7, 2008

Okay, so I have recently been asked to do the job of creating a new logo for my job as well as a website design. Now, I am no graphic designer, matter of fact I am not even trying to be one. But recently I have taken a liking to the likes of Illustrator. People who have seen some stuff I have done in class ask if I am a professional. Of course I think that is a little much so it isn’t going to my head perse…but it has got me thinking.

I mean, I am looking toward a very demanding field already and I don’t think it could hurt much to have other options. I plan on posting my logo options after I have my emplyers take a look first. If anyone happens to stumble across this page then, feel free to leave a comment.

As for the blog itself. I am hoping I will remember to keep updating it. I have so many projects going on some hobby, some school and some work as I mentioned, it is going to be nice to have a little outlet be it to showcase, discuss or slam my progress :) .

Hello World!!

April 7, 2008

Alrighty, so I figured I would do the whole blog thing *5 years late, I know*.

First an intro may be nice. So:

My name is Brad, but I go by “Tonedef”…why I don’t know. I am not really tone deaf and it has nothing to do with Deftones. It is a handle that kinda stuck with me from my days in a band, thought the irony would be funny. It wasn’t. I am currently studying Digital Animation and enjoy most all aspects of digital art.

My goal for this blog is to share my work, tips, and other various art crap I feel like posting :) . Keep in mind that the content will cover a large area of information. From games to graphic design and so on.

I hope that the blog will at least help out a few people, if not…oh well…gives me another thing to do haha.
